The Brief

Redesign and development of the O’Brien website with an easy-to-use design system and content management platform to help showcase their wide range of services and brand values for new and existing customers.

The Challenge

The current website felt dated and out of line with the main brand, famous for its above-the-line marketing and their focus on customer service. On top of this, the site didn’t showcase the full range of services now available through O’Brien, which included electrical, plumbing, and commercial glazing.

O'Brien came to Tonic requesting a website refresh incorporating a complete brand and digital design system that would enable the internal team to easily manage the website, create additional pages and content as required, and help maintain consistency with the main brand and visual direction.

The Strategy

The first step was to get a better understanding of the full range of services available through O’Brien and how to structure these through a digital platform, making it as easy as possible for customers to access across multiple devices.

We then developed a series of user journeys that would help educate customers on the services available, learn more about the brand, and provide access to help and advice for a range of topics aligned to the services provided by O’Brien.

The next step was to create a digital system that provided a range of components and templates that can be easily managed internally at O’Brien, removing the need for additional third-party support or maintenance.

The last step was to provide a refreshed UI that provided a modern and seamless experience for users that helped showcase the brand, services, and experience they provided to their customers.

The Solution

We created a fully featured design system and refreshed UI that provided a range of tools and guidelines for O’Brien to build and maintain their website and retain consistency with the core brand. This was built out as a digital solution allowing staff and internal design and development teams to access components and templates that could be easily applied across the site when adding new services, pages, or content.

The platform provided a refreshed look and feel for the brand, helping highlight and showcase the values and commitment to customer service, as well as making it easy for customers to access and book services and even learn about potential career opportunities within the company.
